I left Sue’s place and drove a few hours to AJ’s near Watertown. I arrived on the day that, due to the shutdown around Covid-19, AJ’s friends had to close their business, a 9Round Fitness Franchise. A plan was made to go out to dine and hoist a couple beverages to…celebrate/commiserate? Julie and Keish’s daughter, Donna, joined us and brought along her son, Boaz.
Over the course of the weekend, Marta, AJ’s mom cooked some fine food for us, and took great care of me over the weekend. AJ took me on the Thousand Islands Boat Tour out of Alexandria Bay. We passed Boldt Castle and a bunch of millionaires homes. Had a funny, cute, and knowledgeable tour guide on the cruise. We had changeable weather, and wonderful stormy skies. People mostly don’t come to the Adirondacks for the weather.
Found my boat: The Hootchie Cootchie. We jokingly refer to the Grammie’s Ginger Elixir that I make as “hootch.”
I’m not sure if this rock + tree = an island or not. I think in order to call it an island, it has to be above the water 365 days per year, and there has to be something growing on it. So this might count as one. Are there really 1,000 islands?
We drove over to Wellesley Island State Park to check out a hiking trail. It was a gorgeous hot day, Marta was chilling in a lawn chair in the shade while AJ and I walked a little way around Eel Lake.
This post is a thank you note and love letter to my newest adoptive family. The beautiful part of being a stray is that one never knows which lovely people with allow you to follow them home! ;-)
