I drove from AJ’s in Evans Mills to Jane and Leeann’s place near Harrisville, NY. They have a lovely home in a sweet spot in the Adirondacks. They have a pond stocked with large mouth bass and other fish. Have I mentioned how much I love a screen porch?
Jane and I drove over to Coles Creek State Park to check out the campground for future use, and to meet with friends, Lisa and Shari who were staying there.
One evening, Leeann and I did a little fishing off the dock. She caught a couple small fish using night crawlers. I caught nothing using a dry-fly that looked like a dragon fly. But it was fun and a quiet meditation for a little while.
For a big thrill, we went to look at a motorhome that Leeann spotted on the way home from a grocery run. It was pretty perfect, and they bought it! I was nostalgic about my own post-retirement trip, and excited for them all at the same time.
Here’s a mystery birdsong. This sweet, fluting song seemed to come out of the big pine trees, in the early morning and again late in the day. The foliage was so lush that I was unable to ever get a glimpse of the bird. Any opinions? Please feel free to solve the mystery in the comments section below. Thanks!
I feel so blessed to have these dear friends in my life. They were so kind and so flexible about when I’d arrive or how long I’d be staying with them. My next location depended upon when our pal Liz would be coming home from hospital, and when I’d be driving across New York State from the east to the western side, to hang out with Liz near Buffalo. As it happened, on the Fourth of July she came home and I headed to her place in Clarence, NY for the next stop on my North County Tour.
