Amid the hysteria and cancellations early in the Coronapocalypse I went to the Upper West Side to visit The New York Historical Society collection. I’m a member, so I’d had an email saying they’d remain open, at least for today. This past week, the warmer weather had allowed me to go hang out by the Hudson River park with a book. Reading, people watching—at least not inside the apartment around the clock. But today it was pouring rain, and I just had to get out. To get away from the news. I took my metrocard onto the C train up to West 81st street.
UWS pretty deserted.
I had a funny moment of do-see-do with Rachel Maddow on the platform. She was trying to pass me, and I stepped aside, right into her path. She switched sides as I lurched in the other direction. Eventually, I stood still and allowed her to pass. Realized who it was. Called out, “Hi Rachel,” at her retreating back. She nodded and kept going. Be still my heart. I love New York.
I love the spider webs on these. Never saw this design before.

This final panel reminded me of the Manhattan skyline. Time to camping!
